This pilot will help citizens of Split choose and fund small interventions in public spaces to make them greener and better. It will be done in partnership with the municipal company that manages city’s parks, green markets and street illumination, Parkovi i nasadi d.o.o..
The company is already running a crowdfunding campaign to fund small scale improvements of public spaces called Zazelenimo Split (eng. Let’s make Split greener).
In a partnership with them, we will provide technical solution and additional funding to expand their crowdfunding efforts using Gitcoin and other web3 tools.
Acceptable types of interventions
Following the general conclusions from Challenges with public spaces funding, we agreed on following intervention types. Citizens will be able to propose these types of interventions on eligible public spaces.
Each intervention type has a cost of implementation which includes buying the material or equipment, and planting or installing it. Additionally, it includes the cost of maintenance over the years.

Eligible spaces
Legal and administrative control over land is the biggest limitation over where the interventions can be done. Parkovi i nasadi has been actively investigating the cadastre to identify the land that is eligible for interventions. Such land can’t be in private ownership, or in ownership of public institutions which don’t have an agreement with Parkovi i nasadi or City of Split which would allow for such interventions.
