A typical Gitcoin grant programme runs in “Rounds” which are basically Calls for proposals. Instead of a new call for proposals once every year, Gitcoin runs their rounds more often. This is to achieve predictability and accountability. Knowing that there will be another round in 3 months, makes it less stressful for project leaders as they know there will be more funding soon. It also makes it possible to give out smaller amounts per round to eliminate fraud. In the worst case, a fake project will run off with one round worth of money, but won’t be able to get more funding in the next round.
