BlockSplit Residency is an intensive 6 week in-person program that brings together collaborators from across the ecosystem. The primary focus of the program is to pilot the implementation of novel mechanisms for funding municipal public goods. The program will take place in Split, Croatia, in April and May 2024. It is hosted by Funding The Commons, Gitcoin, BlockSplit, and the city of Split.
This document presents a plan that taps into the combined strengths of the Funding the Commons, Gitcoin, and BlockSplit communities and brands. In collaboration with our current and prospective partners, we aim to launch a pilot project that will apply systems created for decentralized funding of public goods in the city of Split.
Activities
Think of BlockSplit Residency as a “pop-up research and builder lab.” It congregates researchers, builders, and teams from various web3 ecosystems (eg. Protocol Labs, Ethereum, Near, Polkadot, and other).
Additionally, there is a number of local governmental and non-governmental organisations we could partner up or engage with to make it easier to run projects and achieve goals.
Interesting organisations include University of Split, Split Tech City, Student Business Incubator, Split-Dalmatia County, House of Youth, local municipal companies such as Public Transport, Parks, Parking, etc.
During a month and a half, residents will participate in a number of activities that include talks, workshops, build sprints, field surveys, fundraising, runing QF rounds, hackathons and conferences.
Coworking & Coliving
Series of weekly sprints and lightning talks to drive collaboration. Participants present their progress each week. Culture of accountability, growth, and shared learning.
Learning and knowledge sharing: * Field surveys * Workshops * Meetups * Talks * Podcasts * Building
During the residency, residents and outside participants will learn about municipal public goods, share knowledge, promote the initiative, create online content and build the technical solution based on Allo Protocol and other technology.
Who is it for?
Anyone willing to contribute to the Residency obectives and possesing skills and knowledge that can be useful is welcome to apply.
We anticipate that the most useful participants would be researchers, developers, designers, economists, marketeers, legal experts, sociologists and project managers.
Expected number of residents is 30-40.
